Welcome! You’ve reached the personal blog of Eric Hesse. I’m a graduate of Wheaton CollegeTrinity Evangelical Divinity School, and currently pastor Grace Community Church, part of the EFCA.

My deepest desire is to be so Christ-centered, so cruciformed, so Gospel-driven that my life takes on a posture of being sent to be on mission with Jesus.

Some of what I hope this blog accomplishes is outlined in my first post. Much of what I’ll write is connected to my work with a group of EFCA guys called the Missional Architects. This band of brothers exists for the following purposes:

To celebrate all things missional. God is really reforming his church all across the country. We hope to shine a spotlight on his work and celebrate those stories. We hope these stories will encourage the church and deepen its resolve to walk with Jesus. As stories are celebrated, a community will emerge where mutual encouragement and prayer for each other will strengthen us for the mission;

To season individuals, churches, and institutions who have the Gospel but are not living missionally. Like seasoning on food, we hope for all to have a much fuller and richer experience of the Gospel. This will result in living a sent-life;

To start missional communities. This is primarily a non-professional-driven movement, where a believer recognizes the harvest around them and then listens to the Spirit to discern how God wants to bring his Kingdom to them. The practice here is much like the disciples experience in Luke 10. The MAs hope to equip those for the journey.

On a personal note, I’m happily married to a wonderful woman named Miriam, have two boys, and feel called to adopt a third. I’m a part-time trout bum. I love words (too much) and soon hope to write a book about “sentness.” If you have questions for me, shoot me an email, tweet me or leave a comment below. Thanks for stopping by. Live sent!

God’s glory, my poverty. God’s grace, my ‘sentness’.
